Editor’s Letter

Dear Reader,

With the new lunar year just around the corner, Expanded Field enters a new cycle of its own. New ideas and opportunities remind us of our fluctuating existence, and reveal the eternal paradox of the cosmos. We are in constant flux, forever in motion, but in this chaos we find stability.

Cycles, Expanded Field’s newest issue, explores the capriciousness of our universe. It features stories of cycles coming to an end, then starting anew, and assures us that ‘everything flows.’ The universe might move and shift around us, but is grounded in its promise of a new beginning. We hope this issue encourages you to immerse yourself in the infinite cycles surrounding you, and appreciate the beauty in the past, present, and future. Experience the wavering movements of the seasons and find comfort in the untold promise that the cycles will soon reset and start again. Different, yet unchanged.

With Expanded Field’s new cycle comes a new team of enthusiastic and talented editors. I would therefore like to introduce you to our new core, with Tijmen de Vries as our managing editor, Amber de Haan in charge of the submissions, Lisa Dhoop as the senior copy editor, and Loulou Aronds as the board’s new marketing and design director.

Most of all, I wish to express my gratitude towards the entire Editorial Board for all the hard work and dedication that has been put into this issue, and offer a great thank you to Erin La Cour and the old board, for their much needed and appreciated guidance during our own process of change. The result is truly remarkable.
