The Day of Writing & Publishing

What?

The Day of Writing and Publishing is organised by Expanded Field to bring together professionals in the field of writing and people interested in getting to know more about it. With plenty of time to personally ask questions, the Day will be the perfect opportunity to acquaint yourself with the numerous companies and guest speakers we have invited!

Where and When?

The Day will be held on the 10th of June from 13:00-17:00 at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in the Kerkzaal, which is on the 16th floor of the main building.

Meet the Guest Speakers

  • Lisanne Mathijssen - van Hoorn

    As an associate publisher at HarperCollins Holland, Mathijssen-van Hoorn will give an insight into her job and discuss how to get your foot in the door in the publishing industry through internship opportunities at HarperCollins.

  • Arjan Visser

    As a journalist and award-winning author, Visser will talk about his wide ranging scope of published work, from his earliest interviews to his latest novel: De allemansvriend.

  • Ashley Fields

    After having graduated in Literature & Society at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Fields has founded an independent press, literary consultancy, and editorial provider, called The Carried Away.

  • Niels Noot

    After having graduated in Literature & Society at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Noot has become a researcher with a focus on identity and language. He is currently also a freelance editor at Studio Imaginalis and is the former editor-in-chief of Simulacrum.

  • Jessica Nash

    As a foreign fiction publisher at Atlas Contact, Nash will talk about her long-lasting collaboration with Nobel-Prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro.
